Shell Brook Afghan
Size: 5'
Hook Size: G
Materials: 6 Skeins Red Heart Super Saver Yarn
Directions
Chain 153 (I use this as my length)
Row 1:  sc in 2nd ch from hook
**skip 1 ch sp, 7 dc in next ch sp,  skip 2 ch sp,  sc in next ch sp.**
repeat * * until end of row
Row 2:  ch 3, **7 dc in 4th dc of shell, dc in sc ** repeat accross
Repeat row 2 until desired width is reached.
For this afghan, I used the following color pattern
5 rows Painted Desert
***3 rows Claret
     3 rows Painted Desert
     3 rows Windsor Blue
     3 rows Painted Desert
     3 rows Dark Sage
     3 rows Painted Desert***
repeating pattern until I had 4 sections of each solid and ended with 5 rows Painted Desert.  The chain length for this makes 5' (30 shells)

To adjust length, each shell is 2" wide and uses 5 chains, so you can chain 5 for every 2" you want and then add 3 at the end.  (example: 5'=30shells and 5ch/shell = 150 ch + 3 for a total of 153 ch) (4'=24 shells and 5ch/shell=120 ch +3 for a total of 123 ch) (6'=36 shells and 5ch/shell = 180ch +3 for a total of 183 chains)

Large Butterflies
A friend and I made these butterflies 22 years ago.  We put a treat with them and gave them to kids in the hospital.  I don't know where the original pattern came from, but here is the pattern I have used this last month.  These are cute to hang on the wall as decor, or glue a magnet to the back to put on your fridge for a springtime touch.  My toddlers also like to play with them, so I took a dozen of them with magnets on them to church for the nursery kids - and they were a hit.

Small Butterfly
As I was making the Flowered headbands for my teenage daughter, I wanted to do something different and cute for my little toddlers.  I love butterflies, so this is what I came up with.  I just left a chain on the back, so it can slide on a headband, or I can use a clip.  My other idea for them is to hang some sheer material from the ceiling above their beds to make a canopy and then pin a few butterflies to the material.  I haven't gotten all the materials to complete this project, but that is something I want to accomplish this summer.
